"When the world finally tries to get back up, who will carry its weight?" Riq knew that he wasn't a perfect guy. He's a jerk, yes, but he was a necessary jerk. His methods of leadership might've not been the best, but they had worked. So did he deserve to lose his hands, then his job, then his own life as he wakes up in a post-apocalyptic future with no memory of how and no hopes of returning? Probably.
