The great war that shook the space for many Earth years ended in the advent of the AI race. Destroying the belligerents, the AI put an end to the war, and began destroying the remaining life, so that the war would not happen again. And when the hope of survival was almost lost all the units of AI disappeared. After hundreds of years, the cosmic races were able to restore their power, and the events of the great war were simply a legend.
