Link is reborn as Zelda's daughter, and while she's still just a kid, Ganondorf arrives at the border of Hyrule, ready to invade. In a effort to break the cycle of violence (or at least buy some time for Link to grow up in secret as the princess of Hyrule, Rinku) Zelda offers to marry Ganondorf and share the kingdom to keep it from being destroyed by war.
