Companies in the USA tried to find ways around Prohibition in clever ways. I love a label that one producer added their product which read ‘CAUTION! Do not add this grape juice to five gallons of water and five pounds of sugar, with yeast, or it will ferment into wine, which is illegal’. Sneaky sneaky! Oh, and ‘ankle home’ was very common slang at the time I’m told!
