Where's the Tiger? Just wait, this prologue sets up the main conflict within the Taiga. Notice the historical references? Yes the Wolves represent Tsarist Russia, the Tsaravich is the son of the Tsar and the heir to the throne. The Boars are the Soviets, who have an idealistic and burtal vision for the future of the Taiga. The "moose" that is killed in the beginning is an Eurasian Elk.
